The Future of the Yellow Swarm,

At the Boll Weevil after the Papoose Coastal Nature Cruise those in attendance had an interesting conversation about the future of the Yellow Swarm. I’m going to summarize here and ask those who were not there to offer more ideas, comments and opinions. Hopefully this exercise will shed some light on the why, when, where of the future of the Yellow Swarm. Only of course, if you throw your 2¢ in too so please speak up.

It began with my announcing that Nanz enjoys keeping up the communication but not so much putting on activities. For myself I’m willing to continue as web master but am running out of ideas, designs, etc. We both admitted to not being very good delegators. The nature cruise was designed so that the participants could take it and make it their own by their decisions on which stops to make. People did that and the cruise was a success. Now is the time for the Swarmers to take the Yellow Swarm and fashion it to sever the group.

First up was what kind of organization do we want? Everyone agreed that they didn’t want to go to meetings, have officers and the like. So a formal organization is not what is wanted. It was offered that we are a network and for the most part the internet is how we communicate.

A question was asked around do we want to drive on cruises or go to static show events. Most in attendance prefer cruises but lets remember that this group already choose to attend a cruise and those not in attendance did not. The Greatest Show on Turf is a class act static show and has attracted the participation of Swarm members.

The question was asked why people do the Yellow Swarm thing? What do they like? What do they get out of it? To be seen together as a group preferably traveling was a high point for all. Fellowship was also deemed important.

Appreciation for the following was expressed:
A variety of activities that one can chose to attend or not according to tastes and time.
The experience of seeing new things and old things in new ways as a result of varied non-traditional car club activities.

Ideas for activities included:
A cruise, dinner and drive-in movie.
Participate in an Earth Day event.

If I left anything out or misrepresented anything please send me corrections.

To which I will add:

Along with being seen together and fellowship I think there is a common taste for things new and different, people, places, and things.

Activity ideas :
Ladies of the Swarm Cruise
Back Road Cruise (some dirt for the SUV’s etc.)
Motorcycle Cruise (roads motorcycles like)
Sport Car Cruise (a collection of roads with corners!)
Art Galleries and Dinner Rendezvous (a city culture trip)
East County Nature Cruise

Please send in your ideas, comments, and dittos to Nanz nanz@yellowswarm.org.
